Jonathan , has ultimate good luck come?

Some people were born lucky, some have good luck thrust

onto them , while some achieve good luck through good (hard)

work. Or how else do we describe the man called

Goodluck Jonathan, the acting Nigerian president and

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces ? Check him up:

Good luck all the way

Shortly after he was pronounced the Acting president on

February 9, 2010, these text message hit town though one

can not guarantee its veracity:

“Goodluck was assistant head boy in primary school, the

head boy got expelled, he took over.Goodluck was

assistant senior prefect in secondary school, the senior prefect

died, Goodluck took over. Goodluck was deputy local government

chairman, the chairman got impeached for corruption, Goodluck took

over.Goodluck was deputy governor to Alamieyeseigha, we all

know that story. Goodluck was vice to Yar’Adua. Pericarditis.”

“if you are determined and you have aspiration, there is nothing you cannot achieve. Whatever you believe in will come to pass”

Why did you name him Goodluck?

Father: “Since my parents gave birth to me,

I have always deemed myself a lucky person.

And in several instances, I have excelled where

others could not. I have never failed in my life.

When I gave birth to my son, I instinctively realised

that this child had that element of fortune as well.

There was a day I looked at him and decided that

this boy has good luck; I just said to myself, this boy

is a lucky boy. So, I decided to call him 'Goodluck'.

if you are determined and you have aspiration, there is

nothing you cannot achieve. Whatever you believe in

will come to pass.I really don't consider his name to be

instrumental to his recent elevation in life by God.

I gave him the name long ago when it was still very difficult

to predict that he would become a deputy governor,

governor and then vice president.” (hmm)

Mother: “I was happy when I gave birth to a son.

Because we were overwhelmed with joy,

we decided to name him Goodluck .When I gave birth to Jonathan,

his grandmother (my mother) visited us and carried the child

in her hand. And after staring at him for a long while, she beckoned

on me and said this boy was going to be a great man. My mother said:

"Look, this boy will be the likes of Azikiwe," who was then a foremost

nationalist in Nigeria. And so, she named him 'Azikiwe' after this great

Nigerian. We struggled hard to educate him. Sometimes, we even had to

borrow money to pay for his school fees. He was able to go to school

out of our sheer struggle.”

Manners maketh man

Mother: “Right from the first day that Goodluck was born till date,

I cannot recall him fighting with other kids in the community.

He has always lived a very humble life.Throughout his youthful days,

I never received any complaint from anyone in our village that

Goodluck had done one despicable thing or the other.

I never heard of such complaint before. As I said, he has

always been humble and gentle.” Testifying to this ,

his former boss, Dieprieye Alamieyeseigha described him

as possessing intelligence, strength and tact. According to him,

Jonathan has impressive attributes and rare disposition.

Reacting to his recent elevation, Jonathan said:

“The circumstances in which I find myself assuming office as

Acting President of our country are uncommon….”. Yes, I agree.

Good luck  like your own is uncommon, it is very rare to come by.

Our prayer: May  good luck never elude our nation again.
